Nanatsuboshi is the most popular rice in Hokkaido. It has an elastic, soft texture with a perfect shape, plump and oval. The more it is chewed, sweeter and tastier it becomes. Freshly cooked Nanatsuboshi is of course delicious, but it’s even more sweet and sticky when cold.
Yumepirika, a leading brand in producing Hokkaido rice, is very popular and could be considered the culmination of Hokkaido rice production. The name is a combination of “dream” (yume) and “beautiful” (pirika). The rice features a delicate stickiness, sweetness and moderate softness.
